Holiday Baskets

Mission:  “Holiday Baskets” Food, Toys, Teen Gifts is the combined efforts of Shoreline PTA Council and the Shoreline Fire Department to provide holiday food and gift support to Shoreline School District families in circumstances that make it challenging to provide either for their children.

oThe Food & Gift Drive is the collaborative effort of district PTA’s to provide both a complete holiday meal with winter break food support and to partner with the Fire Department to provide parents at least one quality toy for each child.  See Food Drive Flyer.

oThe Teen Gift Drive is the collaborative effort of district PTA’s to provide parents at least one quality gift per teen for the holidays.  Monetary donations are greatly appreciated.  See Teen Gift Flyer.

This year we are focusing on four areas:

1.Provide a complete meal to each of the 500+ families.  To do so we are assigning each school an item from the “basket” to provide along with their food donations.  An example would be; one school might be assigned “stuffing” and would set the goal of 500 boxes/bags of stuffing along with donations of canned & packaged food items.  See school assignment list.

2.Increase awareness of the need for winter break food support.  Items for; breakfast, lunch or snacks along with food basics.  We are introducing the Most Wanted list of the top ten items we would love to provide each family.

3.Begin to move the focus from quantity to quality of food items donated.  The Holiday Baskets Chairs are hoping to work with local Family Service Chairs to discuss ways each unit can begin to encourage this change within their school environment.

4.Work with local units to find creative ways to increase awareness of Shoreline Fire Department Toy Drive.  Our partnership with the Fire Department goes back over 25 years.  Providing toys for our Shoreline School District parents to give has been a vital part of this event.  We hope each school will develop fun ways to increase awareness of this need to their school families.

Shoreline PTA Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.

Your donations are tax deductible the fullest extent allowed by law.
